If a vehicle has been in a crash and the airbags have deployed the airbag computer stores a "Crash" code. This code prevents that airbag computer from being used again and cannot be cleared or reset with an airbag scan tool. Even after you have replaced all deployed airbags, seat belts and repaired all other problems, the airbag light will stay on until the airbag computer is reset or replaced.

It is better to have your original airbag computer reset because most newer vehicles have the VIN number programmed into the airbag computer. A used module will have a different VIN number which may prevent it from working and new module from the dealer will cost hundreds of dollars.
